Whiten whites and remove all sorts of odors, such as smoke, just by adding ½ a cup of lemon juice to the wash.
Vinegar Presoak
Use a mixture of one cup vinegar and warm water in a washbasin or sink. Soak your clothing for one hour and then wash them as usual.

Febreze is an in-wash detergent booster (used in addition to detergent) designed to target tough odors. It can also be found at most superstores or ordered online.
These easy ways will help to remove the smoke smell from most fabrics. They also work really well on fabrics that have a mildew smell. You should be able to get the various smells out of clothes that have become stinky and unwearable.
