What is your most hated household chore? Surveys show doing laundry as one of the worst of all chores. Repetitive tasks tend to become tedious after a while. And it is difficult to fit this task into a busy schedule. It may just mean doing a little creative planning.
There Are Not Enough Hours in the Day
Doing the laundry is a task that needs to be done at least weekly. Making use of your local laundromat can prove to be a real-time saver. But how to fit this into your busy schedule is the question? Check out the local laundromat’s daily hours. Ask the attendant what are the peak times they are crowded. Those will be the hours you want to avoid. Usually, the busy times are 5 until 9 p.m. and the weekends during the day.
Use Multiple Machines To Save Time
It takes an individual about 15 minutes per load to get everything ready to go. It would take 30 minutes to prep for an average person to wash two loads of laundry. At the laundromat, you could use multiple washing and drying machines to save time. If you choose a Thursday or Friday evening that is usually a slow time at the laundromat so you would have no problem using multiple machines. Be sure and take hangers with you to the laundromat, and after the clothes are dry, fold or hang clothes as soon as they come out of the dryer to reduce wrinkling and to skip ironing later.
Sorting Before Arriving at the Laundromat
Set up different laundry baskets at home and as your clothing is soiled sort the clothing in the baskets. When it is time for the trip to the Laundromat just stack the baskets of sorted clothing and off you go to your favorite laundromat.
How Often You Should Wash Your Clothing…
T-shirts, tank tops, and camisoles should be washed after each wearing. Outer clothes like dress shirts and khakis can be worn a few times before washing unless it is hot out and you are sweating or they are visibly dirty or stained. Jeans can typically be worn 3 times before washing. Laundromats have large capacity machines and could cut your trips down to every two weeks. So instead of having to do laundry every week, now it is bi-weekly.
