Grease splatters can be hard to avoid when you’re cooking. Whether it’s bacon, beef, or turkey, meat grease comes in all forms. From pan frying meats to dropping the burger mid-flip, the grease practically jumps on your clothes. Fear not, your grease-stained clothes aren’t ruined forever. There are a few tricks to removing these stains and saving your clothing. We are going to give you a few simple steps on how to get those pesky stains out, let’s dive in.

4 Tricks To Removing Meat Greases From Your Clothing

#1: Do Your Best to Not Let it Set

There are a few ways that you can keep grease stains from setting. Grab some artificial sweetener or salt and put it directly on the stain as these will absorb the grease. Wipe away the salt or sweetener within a few minutes. If you don’t have those items or they didn’t do the trick, you can try to put some dish soap on it and rub it into the stain. Once you have rubbed the soap into the fabric, rinse with warm water. The sooner you are able to complete this step, the better as set in stains can be much more difficult to resolve.

#2: Pre-Treat Before You Wash

Prior to putting the clothes into the wash, use a rubbing liquid laundry detergent or stain remover to pre-treat the stain. There are also special pre-treatment products on the market that were designed specifically to cut through grease stains; these are great to use as a pre-treatment.

#3: Toss in the Wash

Once you have pre-treated the stain, throw it in the washer. Be sure to use warm or hot water for best results.

#4: Inspect Prior to Drying

When the wash cycle is complete, check the spot where the stain once was. If you are still able to see it, repeat steps two and three until it is no longer visible. Never machine dry clothing that is stained as the heat causes the stain to fully set making the damage irreversible. If your stain is no longer visible, hang dry it and then take a second look once it has completely air dried.
There is nothing worse than staining your favorite clothes. Thankfully meat grease stains can be removed – all you need is a little know-how and the right products to treat the issue.
